Krystal P. from Louis Vuitton client services has confirmed the Supreme Louis Vuitton Collection cancelled. In an email from Louis Vuitton client services, they said, “regrettably, this collection will no longer be sold in any stores or online.”
Hypebeasts, who have already been waiting outside Louis Vuitton stores for days, are in havoc after hearing that the Supreme Louis Vuitton Collection was cancelled. Some people left the store after hearing the news, but some are still camping outside stores in hope that the collection will still release this Friday, July 14th.
Back in May, the community board no. 2 denied Supreme their planned location for the drop stating that the brand couldn’t “articulate how the product launch will benefit the community in any way.” So it wasn’t exactly denied last minute, as there was some foreshadowing that there may be issues with the execution of the drop. I really don’t see why they didn’t just have a normal drop for the collection on Supreme’s website. It would definitely solve the issue, but that’s out of our control.
It’s rumored that VIP Louis Vuitton members will still have access to the collection, but it’s not looking to good for the average consumer. I think we can definitely expect resell prices to raise drastically now that the collection is so much more limited. If you were able to cop any pieces when they were first available, you definitely took the W on this one regardless of keeping it for yourself to rock vs reselling.
I definitely don’t think we can expect Louis Vuitton to collaborate with Supreme again any time soon, because of the mayhem that came with the collaboration. Louis Vuitton wasn’t very happy with all of the people camping out, especially after they already alerted the people camping out that the release for the collection was cancelled. It really is just a part of Supreme culture at this point, and there’s not much you can do about it.
I think it’s safe to say the majority of us took the L on this collection.
