It seems like every once and a while crazy stories come out where someone finds a Supreme piece in a crazy spot where you’d never expect to see Supreme (Ross, Marshalls). And recently a post popped up on the Supreme Reddit where someone found blanks at Kmart with Supreme tags on them! These Supreme Kmart blanks only cost $4 each.
Of course he bought all of the ones they had, and resold them as a majority of the Supreme community these days would do. The post he made started a chain reaction, and people very quickly started going to their local Kmarts searching for these Supreme tagged blanks! Some people came up on the old Kmart W, and some went home with a Kmart L.
How Did Supreme Blanks End Up At Kmart?
A possible explanation for the Supreme Kmart blanks has got to do with American Apparel announcing that they were going out of business, earlier this year. Someone messed up and these blanks never got to Supreme. Somehow the blanks ended up in the pile of stuff that was supposed to get liquidated to Kmart, but nobody cut the Supreme tags off of the shirts like they were supposed to. The colors of the blanks found at Kmart also matched some of the exact color ways Supreme used on their graphic tees released in 2016, and 2017.
Possible Issue With The Supreme Kmart Blanks
The resell value is currently around $80 a tee right now, when they retailed for only $4 each. There’s a good amount of worry in the community that people are buying these Supreme Kmart blanks to make very accurate fakes of Supreme tees, and potentially sell them as real. When there’s that much profit to be made if somebody can buy the blanks and make them into very expensive pieces that look authentic, there will always be people doing it. As a community we need to really watch out for possible fakes of rare shirts being listed for sale, I’d recommend looking for sellers you’re sure are legit and have been doing good business in the community for a while if you are looking into picking up any very rare pieces.
